I was deferred EA to UW Madison for the class of 2024. Does anyone know if they tend to defer most applications (because I know UMich does that) or do they only defer students that they truly feel stand a chance during the RD pool?

It seems like more students are deferred at Michigan than Wisconsin. I have heard of a fair amount of people getting rejected at Wisconsin, but nearly everyone was deferred at Michigan. However, take my thoughts with a grain of salt, these are just my observations!

You are put in the regular pool. Remember, they had to leave room for applicants who applied by the deadline and if many more applied early action it means they had to perhaps put more in the regular timing decision pile. With changes in using the common application and more applying early the old predictions may not hold. You’ll find out in plenty of time to decide things.
