Delaware EA 2026

No merit decision yet, but just accepted 12/3. GPA 3.75, SAT 1320

My son has not heard about merit yet either, he was accepted 11/5 also. I think I read somewhere it comes at the end of December? But I might be wrong.

Taken directly from my daughter’s portal about merit (and I’m pretty sure it changed from what was posted earlier, which said late December for merit):

University of Delaware Student Financial Services (SFS) plans to begin notifying students of merit scholarships by the beginning of January. After that point, they plan to release awards approximately two to three weeks after their admission decision is released. Once finalized, merit scholarship letters and award notices are mailed to students and are available on their My Blue Hen Home portals as well.

It’s dumb because if you ED somewhere else it would be nice to know rewards before so applications could be pulled.

ED is a commitment, one should plan on attending if accepted. You basically forfeit the ability to compare financial packages in order to have a better chance of acceptance.

I realize that. However, they can be withdrawn before the decision is made. I would think just for competition, colleges would rush to get financial packages out.

They don’t, many will come out in the winter/spring.

OOS (Maryland) waiting on Nursing as well. Seems like many of my daughter’s friends who applied as other majors have heard already. The few I know who applied for nursing are still waiting.

DD also received merit scholarship (OOS), which correlated with the scholarship calculator available when she was applying. Thanks for the heads up to check!

Anyone know if the trustee scholarship is the highest merit award?

Yes, unless you are invited to the Distinguished Scholar weekend- those invites typically go out in Feb to about 100 students (no application, they pick) who are in the running for full rides. I have heard that everyone who attends the weekend likely gets their merit increased to some degree. Notifications are late March. Congrats on the Trustee award!

I am confused. My son’s letter says that he has been awarded the “prestigious UD Trustee Scholarship” It’s for $16,000 over four years which amounts to $4000 per year. How can this be the highest merit award when there are others on this board getting $15,000 or $16,000 per year? I’m grateful for any money given, I’m just trying to understand.

Are you in-state? It seems like OOS students receive somewhat bigger scholarships to compensate for the difference in tuition cost.
