Does anyone know which is better for a college student? Recommendation?

I have heard from a PC tech consultant that Vostro is made better, Inspiron has more entertainment features? Both would have similar configurations and pricing, 14 inch. Both are same size and weight.

Vostros are marketed towards businesspeople vs. Inspirons are marketed towards home uses. This undated review said one particular type of Vostro was identical to the Inspiron in all important aspects.

Dell Latitudes are designed to be more durable and more resistant to accidential damage. Latitudes are designed for business travelers. Inspiron is more designed to be a home-based laptop that is not dragged around everyday. For instance, the Lattitude has a much stronger case and much more protection against accidental spills than the Inspiron.

Both are trash. If you’re gonna go Dell, then you need to go with the XPS 15. The SB XPS 15 is a very solid laptop that’ll cover everything. One thing to note though is that the default display of 1366x768 on the xps 15 is one of the worst out there while the 1920x1080 is literally one of the best out there. Make sure you get that screen upgrade as it will affect everything you do while the CPU and Graphics card won’t make a huge difference. Backlit Keyboard and 9cell battery are available as well. Trust me on this, go with the XPS if you’re want a dell. There’s also a $100 off coupon you can use as well. I was sick of waiting for Asus to get their s*** together and just ordered the above. Very satisfied. Hope I helped.
