<p>Admissions is cutthroat. You have little control over how your application is perceived. An edge is great if you got it. Take it. You’re reaching for the gold ring, you have to have that little bit extra something in you to grasp it before others take it. When it’s gone, it’s gone.</p>
<p>I know some of you agonize over which boxes to check or not check. Here is my simple answer - be honest, check the boxes you think will help you the most, leave unchecked the ones that will hurt you the most, when given the option not to check anything, if it will hurt your odds to be honest then don’t check anything.</p>
<p>Of course, if it’s AA that you’re trying to game, you have to be accurate in your assessment of how it works.</p>
<p>I’ll also say this, the more true to yourself that you are, the more likely you will be to find a college that fits you.</p>
