On the Common Data Set, it said “demonstrated interest” was Important for admissions. What are the best ways to show this? I have already signed up for their mailing list; I’m not sure if I can make it there for a visit.
Okay, sorry, I just read the FAQ thread and it answers this question.
If possible, participate in the overnight weekend
If they are coming to your town at all, then go to the info session. When my D was applying, they came to Chicago and had an info session at a large hotel downtown. She signed up for that and we went to Chicago for the day. When you check in at the registration table, they will sign you in and note that you actually attended. This counts for demonstrated interest.
Also, send emails to departments you are interested in and to the admissions office. Many times they will keep track of how often you contact them.
