Demonstrated interest

Yeah I know this topic may have been poste x100000000over9000

But not recently.

Sooooo how much does demonstrated interest affect admissions in the ivied

I've been doing extensive research forthe past 2 summers totAling >450 hrs as well as volunteering at thir hospital for 40 hrs. Will this affect admissions at all?

Thanks for answering

Depends on the school. Cornell and UPENN would value extreme dedication such as an Early application. HYP don’t care b/c they know they’ll win out in most head to head battles with other Ivies.

Your ECs are valuable for you. Congrats. They are standard for typical Ivy applicants.

Thanks. Any other opinions?

if you and another student are equal on almost every level and let’s say that you showed interest and they did not, then your chances are bumped up.

This is dealt with in Q C-7 of the Common Data Set – in which colleges rate admissions factors as either being “Not Considered”, “Considered”, “Important”, or “Very Important”.

I’ve found the CDS for 7 of the 8 Ivys (Couldn’t find Columbia’s)

Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Yale and Penn claim that Level of Applicant’s Interest is “Not Considered”

Princeton claims it is “Considered”

Brown claims it is “Very Important”.

^ hmmm… interesting. I wonder if that ranking is accurately carried out by the schools?

at first i thought you meant you spent 450 hours researching this question, and i thought, wow that’s some dedication

then i saw your username and i elected not provide a helpful answer

in all seriousness: it depends on the school.

once you have a list of schools you’re looking to apply to, check their websites/ask during info sessions/shoot over a few emails to find the answers on an individual basis
