for top schools like harvard, yale, columbia, etc, does showing interest really matter (i.e. visiting campus) since so many people want to go anyway? i know for schools like northwestern, uchicago, and washu it does, but what about the ivies? thanks for the input

I don't know about the 7 other ivies, but for Cornell (at least in my case) I think that it definitely did. My numbers were alright, but I'm not sure they were Cornell-caliber. But, my essays were strong, my letters of rec were AMAZING, and most importantly I had tremendous interest. I visited the school, went to countless information sessions in my area, and even interviewed (even though they say they don't count an interview in their decisions, I am sure it helped). So for Cornell at least, I think interest and personality REALLY help.

bump........

i dont think it matters if you're interested. waitlisted at georgetown without visiting. and rejected from cornell with visiting.
