I saw on Duke's website that they consider "demonstrated interest". So if two applicants had the exact same stats but one showed much more interest-ie went to all the college visits, emailed their admissions officer, attended their summer program... this wouldn't have made any difference?

Duke is my #1 school right now. I want to go to their summer program, but the $6,200 price tag scares me. If this would help in admissions I may attend, but if it doesn't, I would just take a summer job instead.

I'm sure that Duke would understand if you aren't able to afford the hefty price tag. I think that the emails, contact with the office, and ideally a campus visit would display more than enough interest.

I've applied now. Duke is my number one. I'm having an interview and I've visited, but I have no clue who and what to mail my admissions officer. Is there need to? Or can I make sure Duke is number one in my interview and my campus visit is good enough? My Why Duke? should demonstrate my love for the school.

And it doesn't know that I didn't... :) I went through the Triangle when I was younger, but only stopped at UNC because I ahd a cousin there. Missed Duke, haha...
