Demonstrated Interest

How am I supposed to show interest in schools that never sent a rep to my high school and I cannot visit?

Did you provide your info on their website?

Do you receive correspondence from them via email?

  • do you open it

Have you reached out to them?

They are not going to hold your hand

@ClarinetDad16

Did you provide your info on their website?
-> YES

Do you receive correspondence from them via email?
-> YES

Have you reached out to them?
-> NO. I don’t see a reason to reach out to them. all the information I need for the programs I’m interested in are stated on their websites. Nearly every college has a FAQ which answers everything.
What would be a good reason to reach out to them?

@leonardo2020 - if that college came to your HS what questions would you ask their admissions rep?

Can you request an alumni interview?

@leonardo2020, i would guess that if you merely perused the CC message board for each school of interest you could find some differences of opinion/perceived fact that you could ask questions about. If that doesn;t work for you, look at how each college you are interested in talk about themselves and see how that varies versus the other schools on your list. If you do some careful analysis it should not be difficult to come up with a good question or two that isnt found in the rather generic FAQ lists that are out there.

@rdeng2614 Unfortunately not for every school I’m interested in.

@Moonshot99 great advice! Thanks!
Whom exactly should I contact? my regional admission officer? Should I call or write an e-mail?

@ucbalumnus thank you!

I wish I wasn’t so lazy and would’ve started earlier > : (
