Demonstrated Interest

I didn’t apply ED anywhere because I was kinda confused. I’m glad I didn’t because I might have ended up in the wrong place.
However, now that I have a better idea, I wish I could still ED to a certain school. I feel like with ED I had a good chance, but for RD I don’t know.
I want to show demonstrated interest. I know they take it into strong consideration if the cds means anything.
However, I can’t visit and they don’t offer interview. I would hate to bother the admission staff with questions that aren’t actually pressing to me. How do I show demonstrated interest!!

It’s kind of late to demonstrate interest at an RD school.

Are you on the school’s email info list? Did you meet with an AO at your school, or a college fair?

What school are we talking about?

Meanwhile, make sure you have set up your portal, and that you periodically sign in. Check to see if the admissions or financial aid staffs are holding any type of webinar…sometimes on their websites, or facebook page.

Boston University. Didn’t have any opportunity to meet anyone at my school. Anything else they look for that I could still do?

Reach out to your AO introducing yourself and asking a question that is not easily answered by the BU website, or google search.

I took a look at your past threads and have a few questions.

You said that you are funding your college education yourself…are you an independent student? Does BU look affordable per the NPC?

You had several threads asking about HEOP at NYU, Cornell, and Columbia. Do you qualify for HEOP?

Have you been accepted/denied/deferred anywhere yet? Where else have you applied? Do you have an affordable safety.

I do qualify for HEOP financially, which means that I will also receive a lot of financial aid from BU. I ran the NPC and myintuition about a million times! That is one reason I really wish I’d done ED- I realized I like the school, they have the academic program I want, AND I can really, really afford it.
As for the HEOP schools, although I do qualify, I know that a lot of other people also do. I don’t want to dream on what feels like a lottery ticket to me.
My ultimate safety is CUNY.
Thank you for being concerned for me financially!

As for reaching out, I’ll try to think of something to ask. I naturally hate, hate bothering people, but I guess it’s worth it if it somehow helps an acceptance.

Uh-oh. More confusion. BU has a separate AO for homeschooled applicants. I’m like half homeschooled and half NY schooled. It’s too complicated to actually explain without telling the internet my entire life story.
And I’m the only one from my regular school to like ever apply there so I could see them assigning me to the homeschooled one. On the other hand the NY one will probably start out with my application and likely keep it. My question in short: If I email the wrong one is it pointless?

Why not copy both on the email? You could make the intro lighthearted…by saying something like you said here. Then ask your question. As long as it’s a legitimate question, it won’t be a bother to them.
