Demonstrated interest

I finally applied to a majority of my schools. I mainly applied to small liberal arts schools. My college advisor has been saying that demonstrated interest is really important for a majority of my schools. I’ve been able to do interviews with some and went to the meetings when they visited my school, however, I have done that much. I was wondering if it was too late to continue demonstrated interest and what are good things to do for demonstrated interest?

If you select the question regarding expressing interest, you will see suggestions, such as closely monitoring your portal; reading emails; and submitting additional supplemental materials, as suitable:

Sign up for social media, newsletters, etc. Read more about your intended major and other offerings you are interested in. Open their emails and create/log in to your portal regularly. Colleges can and do track that activity.

I see demonstrated as being used in a few ways. The college wants to protect their yield and wants to gauge how likely it is you will attend. Second, LACs especially are concerned about fit and you can demonstrate that through your application, especially the essays.

It may be too late to do this, but you can ask the colleges where you applied if they have any current students in your area whom they could put you in touch with to meet for coffee and to find out more about the school. Probably would have worked better to have done this in early December.

But along those lines, look to see if the colleges offer a chance to talk by phone with a current student. And of course contacting them to ask shows interest. Some colleges actually do outreach, having current students phone applicants. The tippy-top colleges are deluged with applicants, but the majority of the colleges admit 50% or more of applicants and actually have trouble filling all their seats.
