Just got the notice that I was denied admission a couple days ago.

2.98 GPA - Econ Major - Out of local transfer

I would really like to submit an admissions appeal for these main reasons:

*For my last 29 units of coursework I have a gpa of 3.9 (I had a 1.5 gpa just one year ago)
*CSUF has me listed as a transferring senior, not junior
*on my application I put that my transfer gpa would be a 2.6 (I exceeded my expectations in the fall and was able to bring it up to 2.98)
*I have completed all the lower division requirements for my major with a GPA of 3.8

Are these valid grounds to submit an appeal? I really had my heart set on this school, however I would like to know if anyone has gone through this process and the overall likelihood of getting the decision overturned. Thanks alot.

I also got denied with a 3.04, and they denied me before they saw my transcript with an updated GPA. I would put in an appeal just to keep your chances going. I know I am!

did you end up with a 3.04 or is 3.04 the gpa you put on your application?

btw CSU fullerton is super strict about GPA for transfer students outside of local service areas. I heard but so far can not confirm that they do not accept anything under 3.3 for out of service area students.

I ended up with a 3.04 with Fall 2012, I was hoping my transcript would help like how SDSU has supplemental applications. That’s what it said in my letter, my GPA just didn’t meet out of area standards. I have to appeal and send in my updated transcript :(

Are you OOS Comm College transfer? If so, the Cali schools have a huge instate CC mandate. The instate guys likely sucked up all the CC transfer slots. Sorry but OOS is a tough road for anyone.

shxt, this is getting scary, i havnt heard back from csuf yet, but i just got my denied email from csulb this afternoon. im transferring with a 2.91 GPA, business admin-accounting major. local for csuf, out of local for csulb…

Your Junior/Senior standing depends on how much units you have.

If you have 60 units, you are a junior. If you have 90 units, you are a senior.
You can try an appeal, but due to less senior students graduating on time (they are just lingering around trying to find the major they like, a problem many CSU’s are facing due to no-time limit (except for some) unlike UC’s which require mandatory 4-year graduation(harder majors get time extended)) they are taking up more space which blocks the new students from being admitted.

@Core if those 90 units are all CSU transferable and will be completed by the time you graduate then you will be at a senior standing. However, be sure to contact the admissions office to make sure. Some schools can vary and have different rules.

I was also denied. I emailed the transfer center and she advised me to call admissions and change my major to the online program that is not impacted. I did so, but i am not sure if they actually changed it. I sent and appeal form in stating that my gpa will be higher and my last math class will be finished in this current semester. Should i just resend my updated Transcript? i have all CSU transferable units completed. anyone knowing the chances of getting in???
