Trying to transfer to a CSU Fall 2018

I’m a student at a local OC community college and a OC resident. I have a 2.67 gpa and a Communications major AA-T, have completed 3 out of the 4 golden four, 4th one in progress. Already sent a petition of graduation. I applied to only two schools CSULB and CSUF. I just got a message from LB, I was denied. I just recently sent my transcripts to Fullerton. How slim are my chances of getting in? What should I do if I get denied? Should I try to appeal or just try to get in the next semester when I have everything completed

If you are not local , I would say slim. If denied, stay another year and try to bump up your GPA to 3.0+ and reapply more widely.

I am local, how much does that matter?

if youre an ADT applicant and you get rejected by the schools you applied to, your application will get redirected to unimpacted campuses which will accept you (thats why its called “a degree with a guarantee”). If youre set on LB/Fullerton you could always apply next year.

Last year, for CSUF local applicants needed a 2.75+ minimum for a chance at an acceptance while non-local was 3.4+. Average CSU GPA for all transfer applicants and not major specific was 3.21.

For CSULB, the average CSU GPA for all transfer applicants and not major specific was 3.2 also last year and they did to state local vs non-local.

So if local for CSUF, then you have a chance if the GPA threshold has not been raised.

I had no idea of applications being redirected to unimpacted campuses. How often does that happen?

I checked my gpa again and it seems my gpa went up to a 2.72. After my intersession class/grade finally got progressed. (A in Public Speaking)

I made a counseling appointment next week to discuss my options in case I get denied.

Your application automatically gets redirected to a CSU that’ll accept you.
