Denison Regular Decision 2022

I’m trying to figure out my financial aid. When it lists out of pocket expenses is that with the loans or without?

@NashvilleAg my daughter’s e-mail got a Denison notification to check portal, but not our family e-mail - congrats to your son!

Out-of-pocket includes loans. Have to back out the Federal Loans and work study numbers to get the “no loan” amount.

my email automatically moved the email from Denison into my spam folder, so watch out!!

Ok just hoping my son knows to check. So much better than me telling him to

@homerdog my last post was to you… sorry I forgot the tag

accepted w/ $23,000 per year

GPA: 3.83 W and around 3.74 UW
SAT: 1430 / 690 + 740

Daughter accepted with $24,000/year merit award. GPA 3.8; SAT 1420; ACT 32; exceptional in music. No hooks.

It’s annoying they include “unsubsidized loans” under financial aid award. An unsubsidized loan is just a loan, it’s not a form of financial aid!!

Haha! @amcquilk my husband said the same thing

Rejected!
1480 SAT, 4.0 GPA, international with $1500 EFC.

Accepted. Sat optional, 3.66 unweighted gpa. good essays and creative writing supplement.

Accepted. 25k merit. 35/1550/4.0 unweighted. Probably not quite enough for S18 but will consider.

accepted with merit!

Waitlisted- kind of disappointed because Denison was quite high on my list, but another acceptance certainly alleviated it!

Waitlisted too, pretty disappointed

international student accepted with 47k aid.

Daughter accepted w/ 26,000 merit. 3.97 unweighted. Rank 2 in class. Full IB candidate

Accepted with merit less than at several direct competitors. Was never really high on D’s list, so this helped clear up the decision making…only really a contender if they came through with an offer too good to refuse. The first of now seven acceptances to include a work study component (which was kind of odd). Felt the way they packaged the scholarship, unsubsidized loan and work study under financial aid was a bit on the misleading side. The focus continues to narrow!

Agree about the cheesy “financial aid” statement. Denison was the only school of the dozen acceptances that tried to make it seem like taking out a loan and doing work study was a financial aid award. So D got the Alumni Award (sounds like merit) and nothing else but loans and WS. No need-based? Is that typical? Do they really want to fly us out for a visit on their dime when they are so far out of range for us to consider an acceptance?
