I'm considering attending DePaul in the fall, but I would be going there as a pre med student. Can anyone tell me how good their pre med program actually is? I've emailed the pre med advisor, with no response. I'm unable to find any stats on it. I'd like to know admission rates to med school, opportunity for undergraduate research, etc. Please let me know anything that might help =D

I’m looking for the same exact answer and have not been able to get much information. All I know is that they are expanding their science department a lot which is good but I would love to have more information too…

I just went on a college visit to DePaul today:

Their LAS is basically splitting apart so that Science is distinguished from Liberal Arts, in terms of “growth.” They’re currently working on getting a good pre med advisory system up and running. They don’t have an answer so far for the admission rates to med school. All they know is that 200 to 300 students claim to be interested in the professional health field. This could mean nursing, being a doctor, or anything else in the wide spectrum that is health care. They do have tons of research opportunities even though the university prides itself as a teaching institution rather than a research institution. This just means that the research gets less funding, but still occurs–no less often than any other university.

From what I understood from the visit, DePaul is on a quarter system (more like a trimester in reality), and the professors claim that this causes the courses to be very rigorous. Students at DePaul in general say that the courses are as difficult or easy as you want them to be. They say there is great course direction and that the courses get harder as you raise from 100 level courses to, say, 300 or 400 level courses.
