I've been having a really hard time deciding what I'd like to major in when i go to college, and I thought about going to medical school after getting my BA. My question is however, does anyone know if dermatology is a hard field to get into? I'm also average with math & science but I think it would be great to do something related to skincare. I could really use some help!

Oh, I'm also curious if anyone knows about going into Sex Therapy. thanks!

Derm is probably the hardest residency to get into (residency occurs after medical school). There are very few programs, all with very few spots, and the lifestyle is the closest you'll get to a 9-5 (or even less!) schedule as a doctor.

The advice I'd give you as a soon to be third year medical student is to keep an open mind about any particular field of medicine. Most medical students change their minds frequently during the first two years of school, and only settle in on a decision after going through several of their third year clinical clerkships. Even then, many people don't finalize a decision until they begin filling out applications for residency programs in the 4th year of medical school. And still the absolute final decision doesn't have to be made until February of your 4th year. You has a HS senior have, at a minimum, about 7 years and 10 months before you have to make a decision - focus on doing the things you need to do to get into medical school first.

hmmm sex therapy. thats...interesting. Are you just chock full of advice on the subject or what? :)

haha not really, I just always found it interesting and it was something I wanted to look into. As much as I would like to go to medical school, I'm not to smart when it comes to chem or bio. I actually wonder if I would even make it through medical school if I wasn't good in the sciences
