What's the best major to go in to if I want to become a dermatologist? Should it differ between what colleges I'm applying to? The colleges I'm applying to this fall are...

Stanford Univ, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, Cornell and Univ of Penn

Anyone have an idea?

ok. before you can go into dermatology, you have to get into med school, take 2 years of classes, and then apply to dermatology residencies. dermatology is extremely competitive, so you would have to get top grades in college, ace your MCATS, get into a great med school, ace your boards, ace your classes, do tons of research. then you can consider derm.

I don't think your medical specialty should really impact what you major in. Obviously, physical and biological sciences, biomedical engineering, etc. are good for med school but as far as a specific specialty, the only way to possibly give yourself an edge would be to do some internships at a derm center or something like that. Curiously, philosophy majors are fairly successful at getting into med school.
