On part 7 of the Student Info form, theres this question. What exactly are the admissions officers looking for? What if I havent done any research or went to any programs in the last two summers? Is this going to seriously affect my chances?

i mean, the question is pretty straightforward. you dont really have any wiggle room - if you didnt do any research or anything your only choice is to write whatever productive you did that summer. if you write that you were loafing around both summers then yes, it will most likely hurt your chances.

Is this question suppossed to be written in essay form or should it be written as a list with short descpritions next to each activity?

There's only 3 lines..

my guess this question is where most people begin to lie on their application

HAHA
agreed

Not true dudes, I do a lot of productive work over the summer. NOT! Key word: Summer!

Are they asking only about big stuff? Or would you put things like hiking/pick-up sports games/mountainbiking etc

If you put things like that, it just shows that you have a life...Just because you're not a slave to academia the whole year doesn't hurt your chances.
