Designing your own major

D is home-schooled, self-directed and has studied on her own since junior high with the help of various tutors. She learns well this way, but looks forward to continuing her studies with other engaged students and lots of interaction with professors. She would like to study just about everything...and is very artistic.

Any suggestions for schools that let you put together your own major? She fell in love with Brown/RISD on a recent visit, but needs some less competitive choices as well.

Maybe New College of Florida?

One of my former classmates is majoring in "Creativity" at New College of Florida. Sounds like complete ******** to me, and probably to future employers as well, but in terms of free reign... I think New College of Florida is the way to go.

You can design your own major at NYU, so consider that too.

Yes, I second gprime. The Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU lets me form your own major based on your interests/desired focus. I'm going next year! x)
