When students bring their own chairs to the residence hall what do they do with the one that was already there? I want to swap the one at the residence hall with the one in my room at home. Do the residence halls let you take the chair out of the room?

I don't know if you're technically allowed to take it out of the room, but it's not like they have any way to check until after you move out. Either take it home and bring it back at the end of the year, or stick it in the corner and use it a shelf/table.

Or keep it around, always nice to have some extra seating (movies or tv?).

One of my son's roomates moved out of their triple at the beginning of winter semester, so he ended up with two in a triple. To make more room, he asked if the could store the third set of furniture somewhere and he was told that there was no storage available for room furniture. So it seems that you can either take it home, or leave it in the room. You might find that someone else on your floor might want to use it for the term.

It kind of fit on top shelf of closet (the chair was upside down, slid the shelf forward a couple of inches so the back slid down against the wall) Then used it as a shelf for small boxes. Not beautiful but a desk chair was more comfortable than the hard plastic stacking chairs on her floor in Markley. Some tried to store them in the lounge but People were scrambling in April to find a chair upon checkout so they weren't charged for missing furniture.
