Desperate about UT (chances? advice?)

<p>Be honest with me now. I <em>really</em> want to go to UT. I know that this counts for nothing; lots of kids want to go to UT. Applications open Sept. 1 and I'm just so nervous about the whole process. I don't want to mess anything up (though I fear I may have already). I'm really expecting to be rejected, I don't come from an interesting state like Alaska or Maine or something unique. I'm not special. In any way. I love UT and I really believe I would fit in. Is there anyway to communicate to UT that I'm sincerely interested? Does this matter at all to them? I've visited, toured, attended the Freshman Information Session, I'll apply early, I have a UT EID, I've sent for information. </p>

<p>Applying for Summer Freshman Class (Spending the summer in Austin over my hometown? Yeah, I'll take that)
Applying to College of Liberal Arts
Intend to double major in Economics and German
ACT: 29 (I'll take it again--I would like to get a 30)
SAT: 1260 (I know, I know, weakest point of my application. Taking it again, really working on prepping)
Rank: 8/139
GPA: 3.9 on 4.0 scale uw
AP English: 5
AP Biology: 3
APUSH: 5</p>

I am involved in Future Business Leaders of America. I really enjoy this club the most. But my first passion at school is publications--I'm going to be a co-editor of my school newspaper after having served as a member of the journalism department for two years. I've done other clubs and stuff, on the side, as it were. I'm involved with my church a bit, and I have a little over 100 hours of volunteer work with the local hospital. </p>

<p>I'm so passionate about the school; it has SO much to offer. I mean, I can take Advanced Business German for crying out loud! I can be certified in professional German. I've been reading the class descriptions, they sound like so much fun. My AP scores will allow me to fulfill some requirements, so I can take fun stuff like the class on the history of the Protestant Reformation!!! </p>

<p>Do any veterans have any suggestions for me? Besides donating $50 million? Is there anything I can do (besides scores, I'm working on that) to better my chances of getting in to UT? I'm already working on my essays, I have solid writing ability and I really want them to be the best they can be.</p>

<p>I honestly think you have a very good chance of getting in. Raise your SAT scores if you can!</p>

<p>I think you've got a strong shot at getting in. You might want to work on your SAT score but that's it really. I guess the best way to communicate that you want to go to UT is through your essay.</p>

<p>you have a good shot. don't worry about it so much. you'll probably get in with your gpa.</p>

<p>UT isn't as competitive as the ivy league schools. If you can pull a 3.7 + GPA (with a fairly rigorous curriculum) with a 1200 + on the old SAT, your a shoe in.</p>

<p>It's a state school in texas, comeon now Europegirl chill out. You should raise your scores and try and get into Rice university. It's more competitive and has a bigger reputation. Unless your a really sexy gal in which case you should go to UT cause you'll fit in better. Cause I hear that UT has the hottest women.</p>
