Desperate Need for Advices SAT1 or SAT2

Hey College Confidential Community, sorry this is actually my first post but I really need help regarding whether retaking my SAT1 or SAT2.

So far I've taken the SAT1 twice.
First time: 1990 (R:610, M:700, W:680)
Second Time: 2160 (R:640, M:780, W:740)

And my SAT2s consist of

US history 750
Math Lvl2 770

However, I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want to get into the engineering program at University of Cambridge with its application due on October 15th (just taking a shot even though i have very slim chances). This leaves me with one test date: October.

My dilemma is basically whether to take SAT2 PHYSICS (even though it's not a mandatory requirement but it is still relevant to engineering) or whether I should try to improve on my incredibly low reading score on SAT1?

If I really do take subject tests during October, I will take Math level 2 again just to get that 800.

U of Cambridge like the UK one right?

Do they even require SAT subject tests? I honestly have no idea, sorry  But my main point is I think you should take the subject tests, and take the ACT instead of the SAT I. If you live in the UK I don’t know if the ACT is available, but if you live in the US you definitely should  Some people do better on the ACT than the SAT anyway, maybe you would! Especially if you felt that 2160 was your best, ie you studied really hard for it, then no harm giving the ACT a go! It’ll also give you time to take the subject tests.

Hope that helps :)

First, there is a Sept SAT so you have 2 shots to take them. Plus, many schools let you send in SAT scores after the application deadline since they don’t make a decision right away to accept you so check that.

Second, your Math 2 score is fine I would not retake it. Here in the U.S. many schools want a math and a science eg Physics or Chem if they require the SAT 2 for engineering so you should check that as well.

I can see why you want to try and raise your reading score so taking the SAT 1 again might get you up closer to 700.

After you check about the above you will be able to make a better decision.

Hey Lakemom, are you sure there is a september SAT, because I can’t find it at all. Thank you for your advices because now I can probably confirm that retaking SAT1 during October would be a better choice.

^ I’m pretty sure there is no SAT in September…

^ There’s an ACT in sept, not SAT I think

Just checked, very sorry you are right no Sept SAT. One Oct 6 and Nov 3.

Some schools my S applied to said you could take the tests after the application deadline and others said no.
