I'm going to take the SAT for the first time this October and so far I have got pretty decent scores in Writing and Math in the practice tests (750+ in Writing and 780-800 in Math). The only problem is that my CR isn't that good, ranging from 600 to 660 (I'm not a native English speaker by the way). My tutor says I need lots and lots of practice but he admonishes me not to buy any books other than the Blue One on grounds that other books are not reliable since they are not official and that they will mislead me when I take the real test). However, if I want to raise my CR above 750, which is my aim, I will need more practice tests than just those ones in the blue book.
So, can anyone recommend some reliable books that can help me achieve this? I have the most trouble dealing with the passage-based questions by the way.

you can use old SAT tests (older than 2005), but just skip the analogies for the CR. You can find some of these for free in the forums. Also, the Online Course has 10 more official tests (although a couple are the same as the ones found online for free). This is more expensive ($70), but if you can buy it on Amazon for $45 I think. You can also use PSAT tests since they include both parts (sentence completion and passage-based) of CR. They usually sell for $3 each on College Board’s website. If you use these sources efficiently, then you should have plenty of practice.

@laikhe: Thanks I’ve just skimmed through the book and I guess it will help me a lot!
@johnstucky: Thanks a bunch! I’ll definitely try out the PSAT
