Byerly, I have seen you post stats on this but they're old threads that are hard to locate. So I was wondering: do you guys have the statistics (and links please) to the colleges of choice for USAMO qualifiers/winners, Intel winners, Westinghouse winners, etc.? Basically I would just love the links to the stats on the college destinations of the nation's premier academic contest winners. Thanks guys!

The science super stars tend to prefer Harvard, Stanford and MIT

Destinations for the 40 Intel Finalists for Class of 2009:

Harvard: 14

Stanford: 6

MIT: 4

Cornell: 2

CUNY: 1

Yale: 3
Caltech: 1
U Michigan: 1
Brown: 1`
Stanford: 1

are there any statistics for intel semifinalists?

Harvard: 4
MIT: 2
Caltech: 1
Princeton: 1
Stanford: 1
Utah State: 1

2006 Intel list in post #5 is where the top 10 said they wanted to go, not where they're all actually going.

Guitarmanars has the list, I think. (He was a finalist, and he's going to Yale)

is intel the most prestigious american contest?

(preferred destination)

Harvard: 17
MIT: 4
Stanford: 4
Princeton: 4
Unknown: 6
Pomona: 1
Williams: 1
Caltech: 1
Penn: 1
Yale: 1

Byerly, do you know if this information is available regarding USAMO winners/qualifiers or Siemens Westinghouse finalists? Also, what is the link for your first post's statistic on the class of 2009?

The link for Intel 2009 is my own archive.

The USAMO 2006 winners/honorable mention; college destination not reported:

I'd also be looking for the Presidential Scholars, Semi-Finalists and Qualifiers.

For the math types, USAMO would be interesting to know but as Byerly said, they do not post where they are going. Perhaps we can get the information on the Mandelbrot test takers (an alternaite route to USAMO).

These people are nerds! Seriously.

Here are my own facebook statistics:
Destinations for American USAMO Winners 2004-2006:
Harvard: 14
MIT: 14
Princeton: 3
Caltech: 2
Florida State: 1
Williams: 1
Yale: 1
Unavailable: 3

I'm glad to see that one Intel finalist is going to the Univ. of Arizona. Their engineering/technical science programs are excellent.

So on facebook there are groups for both 2005 and 2006 presidential scholars. I combined them and took statistics. Here are all the schools averaging two or more presidential scholars per year (based on a sample of 180 of I believe 282 presidential scholars the past 2 years):

Harvard: 34
Yale: 17
MIT: 11
Stanford: 10
Princeton: 9
Duke: 7
Brown: 4
Michigan: 4
UPenn: 4

I'm also wondering: is there a site where it shows the destinations of National Merit Finalists? I know they obviously not list anyone individually, but is there a list that reads something like
Harvard: 820, Yale 530, etc for some given year? That would be really helpful too. Thanks.

national merit scholar info:

School: 2002 2003 2004 2005 (20042005 change) estimated 2005 percentage of class

Harvard: 396 378 312 287 (-25) 17.5%

Yale: 180 228 224 232 (+8) 17.5%

Princeton: 149 165 192 180 (-12) 14.7%

MIT: 139 151 134 131 (-3) 12.2%

Stanford: 223 217 217 194 (-23) 11.9%

scottie, what is your source? is there any way i'd be able to find a complete sort of list like that?

Year by year totals are reported HERE, although the numbers include both National Merit Scholars and National Achievement Scholars:
