People say it's better to show passion in an EC rather than doing many things; by showing passion, I'm assuming they mean to convert their passion they have for the EC onto an essay? Is this the only way passion can be shown for something? My ECs vary from Mathletes, Chess Club, Debate, President of environmental club, officer of religious club, track, tutoring..etc. My point is it all varies and if there is a minimum amount to show passion, is it detrimental to have these other ECs laying around my app - me unable to show passion for it because I've already taken up space for x number of ECs to show passion for those? Sorry if this didn't make a whole lot of sense, but I think the jist of my concern is out

It depends on how committed you are. If you, say, participated in Club XYZ freshman year, decided it stank, and quit, you probably shouldn’t put that down. Before filling out the Activities section of the application, think: what did I most enjoy doing? If it was an activity that you found yourself mildly resenting, or you muttered to yourself every time you found out there was a meeting, I wouldn’t recommend putting that down. These activities reflect who YOU are and what YOU enjoy doing. If you joined Chess club and find that you’re impartial to chess, I wouldn’t advise writing it down. I think colleges really want to see what you will contribute to their campuses and what you’re passionate about, not the activities that you joined because you think it will impress some admissions counselor sitting behind a desk somewhere.

Thank you. Team Peeta all the way by the way haha.
