I don't think students go into Detroit much. It's more like 50 miles from Ann Arbor, and there's a lot to do right here. Detroit/the Detroit area does have some things going for it - Detroit Institute of Arts is great, professional sports, Broadway-style theatre. Close to Detroit, there's Greenfield Village (now The Henry Ford) in Dearborn, good shopping in Birmingham/Troy, Cranbrook, rock concerts at the Palace in Auburn Hills. In downtown Detroit, I feel pretty safe in the entertainment district, near Ren Cen, Greek town - like any big city, there are lots of places I wouldn't go. Even in Ann Arbor, it's best not to walk alone at night.

I'm a major Detroit fan. They are a good team, though they need to pick up some better shooters than sometime-Rip Hamilton. Albeit Detroit is a raunchy place to go to at night, it does look like Baghdad without sand, but Comerica Park is awesome and all the suburban people are there, so no worries that you'll get killed or anything. Just park in the underground garage like everyone else and you're good. And besides, I know NY is great and all, but tell me who goes walking around Central Park at night?

What, Chauncey's a bad shooter? Every once in a while, you can get Rasheed and Prince to shoot, (and shoot well.)
