develomental sociology

I'm just wondering, what are the general stereotypes about people in this major. I'm just wondering because i'm fascinated by sociology, but i am confused as to why this major is in cals. Is it very social science focused or is there a large math component as well. I know cals in general is very math based. Ive never been a strong math student, does this mean that this major would not be a good fit for me?

stereotype: joke.

It's very social science based, don't need to know a lot of math, but if you want to do grad work in this area you'll need to know a lot of math, and by math I mean stats not calc or anything like that. Dsoc is in CALS because it focuses on the sociology of developing countries which are correlated with agriculture.

D soc 101 is widely known as one of the easiest classes on campus. I believe the median grade for most d soc classes is an A or an A- (maybe a B+ once in a while). The stereotype is that it's extremely easy.

as an applicant, would i be at a disadvantage for being a weak math student? also would i be at a disadvantage if ive never done any signifigant community service in a developing country. This is exactly the type of program i have been looking for, but im not to sure addmissions official would view me as a great fit.

You have no disadvantage if you're a poor math student since there's barely any math in dsoc. I don't know about the lack of community service though since I am not in CALS... maybe somebody from CALS can answer that.

i find it very hard to believe that dsoc is exactly the type of program you've been looking for. the only math skills you will need for dsoc are familiarity with numbers and percentages.

if you can take ap stats in high school (if you're still in high school lol)

take psychology as well...

This has all you need to know.
