Dialect

:stuck_out_tongue: I like that word. It’s a lot more discrete than idiot and people (at least around here) don’t pick up right away so it doesn’t give them time to be offended. At least this was the case with my ex-boyfriend.

My mom uses it :b Her family is composed of New York Jews (the word comes from the Yiddish)

^ Awesome. Sometimes I even say “chutzpah”. I am by no means even remotely Jewish though.

haha Yiddish words are so weird

My mom also uses weird words like schmutz, nebish, and schlep

^ I will now incorporate schmutz and nebish into my vernacular.

nvm
10char

whats nebish

A Jewish n00b?

like when people are like “I feel bad for the poor schmuck who…”; the “poor schmuck” in question is basically a nebish. They also tend to be weird and loserish

Hella is pretty common in the seattle area as well.

Also, we have ten thousand ways to order coffee.

mondy tuesdy wednesdy thursdy fridy … you get the idea.

Oh my god, It drives me CRAZY when my grandparents say “Mondy” or “Tuesdy”. Ugh.

I know some people say it. But here in Texas I think I have only heard one have said that so far

My grandparents live in the northeast. Perhaps it’s a generation thing though. My parents and aunts and uncles who grew up in the same area certainly don’t speak like that.
