Dialogue in essays?

I've used dialogue minimally in some of my essays to build a setting. By minimally I mean maybe a sentence or two. Does this take away from the essay, or is it still considered part of the author's (in this case my) voice, since the dialogue is written as I remember it? Do adcoms generally suggest avoiding dialogue in essays, or do they have nothing against it?

Thanks for any responses.

I think dialogues are fine

I agree- I think they add to the “voice” and are a nice change of pace.

I used some dialogue in my essays and it was alright.
