Did anybody get to see their college kid during the break?

"My sons typically will be up til 3 am and then sleep until noon or later. The last thing they want is to go shopping with mom… the younger one just says, “you know my size, I don’t need to be there.”

mom2collegekids, this is exactly my situation!

I’m glad he is busy and has things to do. I know you wanted time with him, Next time schedule it. What’s worse is if they have nothing else to do and are depressed about it.

We always are fortunate to take a family vacation during break so we have her undivided attention :)

My D was home 2 weeks. The first week we barely saw her, the second week we were on a cruise and all 3 of us shared a cabin. We had plenty of time to catch up then:)
I think I will plan some kind of getaway for the holidays next year too.

I would really like to see my mom and stepdad over spring break, but I just can’t afford to travel from California to Colorado. My sister isn’t in college anymore, but she lives near me and can’t afford to travel out there much, either. They still have my little brother living with them, so it isn’t so bad, but I worry about what it will be like when he turns eighteen and moves out.

It’s pretty weird being so far away. I grew up here in Silicon Valley, but that was with my parents being here. Now I’m back home, but without them, and I don’t know what to make of it.

Saw quite a bit of D1 who is a senior. The past three years she has traveled to swim retreats in California, but not this year; she was home for eight days. Her biggest distraction was the pressure she got from BF to spend some of Christmas day with his family.
