I have an interview early December and was wondering if it was always a good idea to bring a resume...

Did anyone not bring a resume to an interview and still have a good interview?

Did anyone not bring a resume to an interview and still have a good interview?

I didn’t bring anything with me. When I signed in at the adissions office, they had me fill out a form with my approximate gpa and my junior and senior class schedule. I had two interviews the same day at two different colleges, and neither of them even mentioned it at all. We just talked about what my ECs are and random stuff…I didn’t feel after the interviews like I should have brought a resume or something like that.

It kind of depends on what school you’re interviewing for, but I didn’t bring anything to my MIT interview. It was fine.

i didnt bring anything to my uchicago interview, and the interviewer didn’t ask for anything. i dont think its a big deal.

Didn’t bring anything to my Yale interview and one to a LAC and no problem.

My alma mater requests we politely turn down resumes from students at interview sessions. If your interviewer wants one, he/she will tell you. It’s not a requirement.

But there is no reason not to have one (or your art portfolio) with you, in case the conversation turns in that direction.

I agree there’s no reason not to bring one. If you’ve applied and this is a mtg with the adcom, then he/she knows enough about you already. If you haven’t sent in an app yet and this is with some random alum, then I think it could be a real bonus. You never know what on your resume might make a favorable impression on them and spark a great conversation.

D never brought a resume into her interviews and did fine.

When I do alumni interviews, I’m trying to give my school information about the candidate they don’t already have. I’m frankly more impressed with a candidate that comes in with a list of thoughtful questions.
