I'm over it (I think I have been) but I've got nothing to do at work so I have a little fun. That's what speculation is, after all, isn't it? (:

haha this is making me nervous. :( i didn't get them. and i'm still sad. and now i can't even login to see if maybe by some stroke of magic they finally put my extra links on or not. PAH.

This probably isn't the case but since the percentage of people with links is so high, everyone who thinks they don't have them should double check they're looking for the right thing...

So, if you have the links: When you first log on, the two links are "Personal Information" and "Applicant, Student, and Financial Aid" and when you click the second link, there are four additional ones - "Admissions", "Registration," "Student Records" and "Financial Aid".

And THANK YOU Fandangoya

i'm sure i don't have it. someone took a picture and posted int on photobucket a while ago, and i checked and don't have it. i don't even have the first "Personal Information" link and now i can't even go back and check to see if theyre finally up cuz the site's unavailable. my friends here don't have it either- we're all international. i only had the one link, "Applicant, Student, and Financial Aid" :\ AHH. the nerve.

Guys.......I believe I have solved it!

The site/program that Brown uses for application status is the same to the one that Lehigh uses. They both look exactly the same, and are made by the same company (Sungard).

Just checked my Lehigh status. It has the same exact "links" that we are talking about for the Brown site. THE SAME EXACT LINKS. It even has my Financial Aid award status, and I have not been accepted yet. I also checked my messages, and it said:

Review of the information you submitted for aid consideration has determined that your family's resources are sufficient to meet the cost of attendance for the coming academic year. You may wish to consider borrowing through any of the student and parent loans available, or take advantage of Lehigh's Extended Payment Plan. Changes in family circumstances should be sent to the Office of Financial Aid in writing. Your eligibility for the Stafford loan, either subsidized or unsubsidized, is indicated on this notification. To have these loans processed you must accept where indicated, sign and return this notification to the Office of Financial Aid.

Posted February 8th, 2007

This means that they calculated my awards in FEBRUARY, way before they knew if I would be accepted or rejected. Atleast, I believe that is what that message is pointing at.

I truly belive that this PROVES that the links mean nothing. Lehigh uses the same system, and has the same links. I think this has been officially DEBUNKED.

And here is if you want to compare sites:

See....even the URLs are alike. Look at both the websites. They are the same, but have different text. And at the bottom, both have "Release:7.3".

Well that's depressing...

And how does books and something else add up to 9600 on my breakdown?!

Or maybe Lehigh is experiencing the same problems with the system...

The speculation never ends! That is, until the 29th.

I applied to both lehigh and brown w/o fin aid. I don't have the links for either one, but i've been accepted at lehigh so far. So don't lose hope if you don't have anything.

amoney

thank you! you pretty much rock my world.

love,
me

When I dropped by CC a few days ago to check if anything had happened at the schools I was expecting decisions, I obviously stopped by the Brown Forum seeing as I had applied there.

When I saw this thread, I laughed at how irrational and laughable it was. TO FIND THAT IT IS 25 PAGES LONG IS JUST ABSOLUTELY HIGHLARIOUS. I have no idea whether I have this button or not (i just haven’t read enough of this thread to know what to look for or where to check), but come on. 25 PAGES ON A BUTTON that supposedly held the missing link to whether you were accepted or rejected.

Im surprised no one here has been comparing the GPAs, SATs, ECs, and Essays of those with and without the button(s). Come on guys, you can do better... get on it!!! <sarcasm></sarcasm>

hahah i totally and completely agree. well, i think we all spent 25 pages PROVING it (or DISproving it in this case) because we're getting pre-decision release jitters (some of us more than others). and now that you look back on it, it's pretty freaking hilarious. i bet brown did this to us just to play with our minds. this type of reaction should induce so many laughs from the admissions officers. hahaha. knowing that our fate is in their hands...AHHH! good luck you guys. :)

i think people without the links are accepted because there are less people without the links and its much closer to the ratio of brown acceptances to rejections... haha just throwing it out there (and i have the links hahaha)

hahah why would they give extra links to rejected applicants though? that just makes no sense. unless they're trying to throw us all off. (which they would've succeeded in doing..and if they saw 24 pages of CC'ers staying up all night to debate and count people who had/didn't have the links...they'd have QUITE the laugh about it, which is REALLY uncalled for!!!)

But this is the best (and most ridiculous) thread of the whole CC forum. If admission officers read all this, they surely couldn't stop laughing...but anyway, I really like these kinds of speculations...makes waiting easier or at least funnier :)

Hahah agreed w/ suli. I think everyone here knows all this isn't actually going to get us anywhere...it's just silly fun, is all ;-)

Ok, I don't think what I said before, about the Lehigh system, was true.

Apparently, for Lehigh, links means you are accepted, and no links means you are rejected. I believe people who know if they have been accepted/rejected have confirmed this.

But Lehigh is an entirely different school, so it is most likely different. And I really doubt that links means you are accepted for Brown, since 72% got them.

hahaha! that just proves, people with links are in (;

maybe. we should figure it out after decisions, actually.. it'd be interesting

Haha yea. When the '07 decisions thread is made sometime this week (as I assume it will be, eventually) I think there should be a "links?" question in addition to the usual rank, GPA, SAT scores, etc =)

ahhhhhh, the intrigue is wonderful.
