How well known is Babson to business? For example, if I have a Babson degree will many employers outside of MA know about it?

Question for the entrepreneurs out there: Would you rather start a business or inherit a business?

Babson is pretty well known for business in the northeastern part of the United States. Once you step out to California you will get a lot of, "Never heard of it" or something similar.

As far as if employers will know about Babson there is a good chance they will. If you plan to work between Washington D.C. and Boston there is a very high chance that the Babson name will be recognized and well received. However, if you plan on working in other parts of the country such as California or maybe the southeast such as Florida there will be a lot more people that won't recognize the name.

The reason for that is Babson's student body consists of mainly kids from the east coast or internationally. Also it is a very small school so there aren't too many people there to begin with.

I'd say its a great school for entrepreneurs actually it is the best school for entrepreneurs. If you plan on working for a big name investment bank such as Morgan Stanley, Merril Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, Citigroup etc... or go to a top MBA program such as Harvard's School of Business or Northwestern's Kellog etc.. you might want to pick a school with more of a national reputation then Babson. There definetely have been graduates that have gone on to work at some of those investment banks and onto the top MBA programs but if you plan to do it from Babson you will need to do very very well.

Unfortunately, they give a lot of work and the average gpa is I believe below a 3.0 There is no saying you can't do it.

I'd say if you want to study entrepreneurship definetely go to Babson but if your aim is set on a top invesment bank or top MBA program then you might want to pick a different school.

I was accepted to Babson Early Action. I had a 3.4 gpa, 1830 sats(v:580, m: 610, w: 640), great essays and recommendations and very involved in ec's and out of school activities as well.
