Did Anyone Take The June Sat?

1 wrong = 780? wtf.. crap.

are you guys serious with the math score? omg.... thats nuking futs

the verbal from today was def. half of the June test. I was siting there thinking, "I HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE!" I thought I saw it in the 10 reals book, so I went and checked, but I didnt see it. It was definitely form the June test!

WHAT? only HALF? which half? def the last passage.

yes for june

i got 780M (1 wrong) so 1 wrong was definitely 780 in june

btw : I DID NOT RECOGNIZE ANY OF THE VERBAL SECTIONS ON THIS NOV TEST EVEN THOUGH I TOOK THE JUNE ONE TOO

yeah. cuz we, intl, or even Canadians this time got the "international version" , so its like the june one.

I think the math curve was something like
800, 780, 750, 740, 720, 710, 700

I know people who missed 2 had 750, a person who missed 3 and had 740. From this thread, it seems like people who missed 1 got 780. I got 3 wrong and omitted 2 and got 700. Which I was not very happy with.

But the verbal curve was nicer.

Wait. . .then I should have gotten a 740 for getting 3 wrong on Math? I knew they made a mistake.

Even if its 20 points, its worth fighting for. So, what should I do to report the problem?

No, because the three wrong rounds to four . (Remember, you lose points for each question you answered incorrectly.) So the 720 is the correct score for three wrong.

No, you need to get 4 wrong to lose a point. There's no rounding. . .right? Unless, of course, I got 3 quantitative comparisons wrong. But then, wouldn't that show up in my raw score? I would have a raw score of 56 out of 60 instead of 57 out of 60. That also proves that they didn't round.

Furthermore, I got a raw score of 70 out of 78 for getting 7 wrong on verbal. That's 78-7 = 71, and another point off for guessing. Note that they didn't take two points off when I got 7 wrong, so that proves there's no rounding.

By that logic, they had to have made a mistake. . .unless I'm missing something. . .

I was taught that they rounded off at every .5. (So if you got 2 wrong, it's rounded to 3. 3 wrong to 4. 4 wrong to 5. But 1 wrong doesn't round.) Maybe I was taught wrong. shrugs Someone else will have to step in and answer.

if you get 1 wrong, no point deduction from # right (# right.75) rounds up
if you get 2 wrong, no point deduction from # right (# right.5) rounds up
if you get 3 wrong, point reduction from # right (# right.25) rounds down
if you get 4 wrong, point reduction from # right (# right.0) stays as is.

and so on. if you get a certain # of questions wrong, it is most 'profitable' to get 4n-2 questions wrong while getting 4n-1 questions is the least profitable.

They do round. Is it fair? Not in my opinion.

what was the verbal curve like? will it be similar to the november test

vitamin1, what you're saying works with the 720 bit but it doesn't coincide with the raw scores that I just said. . .I have a raw score of 57 out of 60. I got 3 wrong. Hence, I did not lose a point based on rounding.

The only way your system would work is if they break it up based on section. I got a raw score of 40 out of 42 for Arithmetic and Algebraic Reasoning and a 17 out of 18 for Geometric Reasoning. Because I only got 2 wrong in one part and 1 wrong in the other, they both rounded up.

Still doesn't explain the 720 though. . .

57 (# right) - # wrong * .25 = 57 - .75 = 56.25

which rounds to 56

60 - 800
59 - 780
58 - 750
57 - 740
56 - 720

makes sense to me

Ok. . .but the score report explicitly says my raw score is a 57. . .

I want to see something. . .does anyone know the Verbal curve? I got a 720 with 7 wrong, no omits. I want to see if a raw score of 70 out of 78 (7 wrong minus 1 for guessing) or 69 out of 78 (minus 2 for guessing and rounding) yields a 720.

Either way, the score report says I have a raw score of 57 out of 60 and a raw score of 70 out of 78, so I don't understand what's going on.

What was th everbal score for 9-11 wrong....i got 6-7 wrong out of 54 so there must be more out of 78....

"Ok. . .but the score report explicitly says my raw score is a 57. . .

yep, i've noticed that too, they round up the raw scpre of EACH section then add it up.

That's why you shouldn't ever "guess" the experimental section. That's just a really bad idea.

Wow. I'm surprised CB recycled such a recent test. I took it.
