Did anyone use score choice and get into cornell?

Apparently cornell doesnt allow score choice. There has been a huge question about whether colleges can see whether you used score choice or not. Did anyone decide to risk it and use score choice (either SAT I or SAT II) and get accepted?

all sat i’s have to be sent…subject tests requirement vary by col lege, and if you meet those requirements i think you’ll be dfine

Why would you risk using score choice if they take your highest score already?

^exactly. Just send your sat 2s based on the college requirements, and them report ALL of your sat 1s

I don’t think anyone will admit it here lol

When people apply to a score like Cornell, I think the adcoms assume that the applicants are of high caliber and honesty…

But seriously, why cheat the system? They are gonna superscore your CR/M/W scores anyways…

I think it’s just all those rumours out there… how this applicant with 1500’s on his/her first try (and brought it up to a 2100+ afterwards) didn’t get in directly because of his/her SAT score, and how people who take it 3 times look worse than people who only took it once (I know Cornell admits that it superscores, but adcoms are still humans…)

I have a question about this. My D has submitted her ACT score in lieu of her SAT 1 scores. This is allowed for the college of Arts and Sciences. She then sent only 2 of her 3 SAT 2 scores - CAS lists 2 SAT2 scores as the requirement for this college. Is it a problem that she did not send her SAT1 scores or that she sent 2 of her 3 SAT2 scores?

^ for the subject scores, I’m quite sure as long as her 2 SAT II scores meet the requirements, she’ll be fine. I’ve heard of people (this year ED) who did not submit all of their subject tests (but still met the requirements), and got accepted.

So basically…send in all SAT 1’s (or ACT’s), and make sure that the subject tests you send fulfills the college requirements (i.e. a math & science for engineering)

Thank you for the response. I appreciate it.

np. score choice policy is indeed a bit murky with regards to subject tests. Some people are saying that (for SAT 2) it’s not actually reporting every SAT 2, but rather reporting every test you’ve taken for a specific subject to meet the requirement.

i.e. A guy applies to ENG and took math 2X, physics 3X, and lit 2X. He reports ALL of math and physics, meets the requirement and doesnt have to report lit…

meh…im not that sure lololol. if anyone else is unsure, just phone/email the college. From my POV if you meet the requirements you’re fine.

You have to send in ALLLLLLL of your SAT I’s. For Subject Tests, just meet the requirements and you’ll be fine.

My friend who’s applying RD called ENG today - they said that all SAT Is & ACTs have to be reported. For the subjects, as long as you meet the requirements (math and a science for COE), you’re fine. Heck, they said that even if you don’t have a subject test (although it’s very much preferred if you do), they can figure it out from your school marks/APs…etc. That’s not to say, however, that SAT II’s aren’t required.

Don’t worry about it too much. It won’t make or break your app.

^ ya that sounds about right.

If you are doubtful, phone. My brother is applying and the Rep told him the same thing: report all your SAT Is/ACTs and make sure your subject tests meet the requirements.

Wait I am confused.
So say you took SAT II math two times and got a
significantly higher score on the second time. Does that mean
I could just send my second SAT II math score?

1) they take the higher one anyways
2) if your college needs the math, you have to send ALL of the math

Im pretty sure there’s no way Cornell can find out whether u used score choice

Just be honest guys - send in all your SAT I’s. They superscore so it’s only to your advantage.

Don’t worry about the subject tests. The representatives said that as long as you meet the requirements (i.e. a math & science for COE), you’re fine. They also stated that EVEN if you DON’T have a required subject test, they will figure out your performance from other scores (APs, School…etc).

But really…just send them =D

For anyone applying to Cornell, Would it be okay if I submitted my SAT II’s and my ACT, but not my SAT I? Anyone let me know

Yes, that is ok, yungdeepu. If you want to be sure, call admissions and ask.
