Did checking "no" for financial aid on Common App help me get in?

I have just been accepted to Vanderbilt University through early decision 2. When I was applying on the common app, I checked the “no” button for whether I was applying for financial aid, as I was unsure if I was applying for financial aid (I’m not sure if my family qualifies). However, my family has decided to apply for financial aid anyways.

My question is, did my clicking “no” help me get in to Vanderbilt?
if so,
now that I am applying for financial aid, do I have to tell Vanderbilt?

Most of your financial aid will come directly from Vanderbilt so yes. I do believe their website says need blind. Go directly to Vandy’s webpage and check.

No, applying for financial aid did not affect your admission.

However, the financial aid deadline already passed nearly 2 months ago. Since you didn’t apply when you submitted your ED2 application, that means you promised to enroll without any financial aid. Not sure what you can do about that now.

If u ask them, then how will they not know?

They may construe your lack of forthrightness as a sleazy tactic.

If you want aid you need to contact them now.

No aid likely for freshman year.

I will be hard to get the aid for 2016-2017 year unless your parents applied FA before the due date. I would still apply, just in case.

We have had some unexpected FA experiences, both positive and negative. It is worth applying asap but call first to make sure doing so is not a complete waste of time.
