Did I make a good choice?

I am going to USC and majoring in econ. i plan to live in LA or san francisco after graduation....I know USC has an excellent rep in southern california, but how does it fare in the northern parts?

also, what are some other top yuppie places for a USC grad to consider? i really love san francisco...

OMG don’t obsess much do you? It’s 4 years away. San Francisco could be in the ocean. Chill already.

You’re going to live wherever you get a job. With any luck, it will be a place with low COL.

Places with a low cost of living have a low cost of living for a reason.

Yeah, like:
-State governments that won’t need multi-billion dollar bailouts
-More fortune 500 companies than any other state. And they’re in a wide-range of industries
-lack of an income tax
-Unemployment well below the national average
-Thousands of high paying tech jobs being added in the next year from companies like Facebook and Apple (They need somewhere to go after leaving California)
-No state capital gains/corporate income tax
-Better K-12 education than California
-Economy that doesn’t rely solely on housing or any one industry
-A tax structure that puts less strain on the state budget during a recession, by basing taxes heavily on consumption rather than income

That’s what coase means when s/he says places have a low COL for a reason.

Seriously, quit finding things to worry about with this transition (esp. things you can’t control that are years away)! You are going to miss so much of the ‘here and now’ in your life trying to make sure the future turns out just as you planned. Maybe it will, and you’ll miss out on some amazing opportunities in the process because you weren’t open to them.
