It says here that NYS residents should submit the TAP application immediately after the FAFSA which I didn’t do.
I’m also confused about TAP, see my previous thread: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1958570-ny-state-tap-application.html#latest

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Go to the NYS HESC website and apply for TAP. There’s a link on the FAFSA, so next year you can apply literally directly after filing the FAFSA by clicking on the link.
TAP is only awarded if you attend school in NYS. You apply by putting your top NYS college on top of your list. When you decide where to attend, make sure that college is on your TAP list. If they have space for more than one college, the one you plan to attend has to be first.
@austinmshauri thanks for replying. I did create a TAP account and all my info was filled out because I did the FAFSA. But TAP only allows me to put down one that I plan on attending. What should I put down if I’m applying to several NYS colleges?
@sybbie719 can confirm, but I’d put down your favorite. When you decide where to attend, move that school to the top of the list if it isn’t there already.
@austinmshauri sorry, I’m a bit confused…which list?
I thought TAP had places for several schools. If not, just pick one school and put it on the TAP application. When you accept an offer, make sure to amend your TAP application so the school you plan to attend is on the app. The school you list is where HESC will send your award.
@austinmshauri unless I’m mistaken, TAP only allows you to put down one school
Thanks for taking the time to help me
It probably does. It might be the FAFSA that had a list.
You’re welcome. If the app doesn’t go through for some reason, let us know.
You can only list one NYS school on TAP. If you are eligible for tap it will show up in all of the financial aid packages at your NYS schools. Once you decide on a NYS school, you just go into TAP and you put in the code of the NYS school that you will be attending.
@sybbie719 Thank you so much for the help. Means a lot to me
