Did I mess up on my application????

I JUST realized that my extracirricular section looks strange/very lame because I thought "hours" meant as how many hours of participation PER week... so obviously I only put 1 or 2 hours.. o__________o on the span of 16~18 weeks... leaps off a cliff

I hope they do not take it seriously as 1 or 2 hours TOTAL spent per semester on x activity when it's moreso around 15~20 hrs each instead..... because my descriptions clearly state that I do quite a lot for each activity T_____T;;;;

Am I the only idiot who did this..

I hate myself -__-

Even if that is the case, in all honesty, your ECs won’t have much of an impact on your admission chances. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Really!?It should be how many hours you did PER week!I put 1or 2hours,too!Are you sure we did wrong?I checked with others,they put in the same way

^ yay you too

LOL ): sorry I dont want to be alone in this… OTL
And I hope it’s as you say!! T^T

;__; I’m going to check with my counselor tomorrow!

I’m sure it’s Hours PER WEEK!I just created a new account on application web for checking this

it clearly says hour per week on the application. not sure what’s so confusing

I did the same thing! lol

ANyways i just found another error on my app… ■■■

Wow are you guys overreacting. 6 of the 9 UCs don’t even do holistic reviews, so they won’t take in ECs into consideration for admission and the others that do factor them in really slightly. Unless you actually wrote about your ECs in one of your personal statements they’re not going to significantly help your admissions chance as they really just glance over them.

You guys must be really bored to create so much drama over something so insignificant. Listing the wrong course work is one thing, accidentally putting the wrong hours on your ECs and acting like it’s an auto-rejection is just ridiculous. Even if the hours are wrong they’re still going to see you were involved in things outside of school. Calm down people.

yes because shadowing a dentist for 20 hours is the same as shadowing a dentist for 200 hours, same amount of experience, same amount of dedication shown, yup.

smh, as if definitive words such as “cumulative” or phrases such as “over a period of time” doesn’t exist.

raise your hand on here who tries to complete their EC’s in 168 of one week, anyone?

thought so…

now raise your hand if you work on your EC’s couple hours a a week, ranging from 5,10,15,20? Maybe even taking you a couple of months, perhaps even 6 months to a year… anyone?

i gotta remember to not browse the board not logged in, your posts come up, while when i am logged in your posts aren’t visual because i still have you on my ignore list.

@UCkittychen
You can’t shadow someone for 200 hours in the 168 hours there are in the week, if you put 200 hours it would be immediately obviously that you’re lying. Again, if you want to be RATIONAL and put things into perspective like LAforLife mentioned, the weight of ECs is minimal; 6 of 9 UCs don’t factor them into admissions decisions. So if your fragile ego can’t handle the fact an admissions officer saw the number 6 because you forgot the additional one in 16, you should be able to take solace in the fact it WON’T MATTER. Admissions officers aren’t stupid and they realize applicants exaggerate or just blatantly fabricate things on their applications. If your ECs were important to you, you would’ve wrote about them in the prompt, which provides the type of depth and significance those ECs had to give them a better sense of who you are as an applicant.

I know you can relate to this because you’re one of those people on this board that’s obsessive compulsive over anything UC related. You seem to make the most insignificant things and make a thread about them hourly, but there’s really no need to blow this situation out of proportion.

@UCkittychen
I see it’s the same old same old with you, you always want to address the fodder of a post, but skip addressing its substance because you can’t. My whole point wasn’t about the hours, which on the UC app clearly says to put PER WEEK. So you can’t put 200, even though you may do 200 in the year “gradually” which is beside the point.

Regardless, please feel free to address the substance of the last post, which was about the overall significance of the ECs not mentioned in the PS to admissions officers. I expect you’ll do your usual tactic here and just flee after you felt like you’ve made a point over something completely irrelevant.

Yes we all know I’m on your ignore list because you feel intellectually intimidated by my posts and you can’t cope when someone challenges your opinion and you have no substantive response.

oh. ahahahahahahahhzhahadhsjdㅎㅎ laughs weakly… I didn’t see that hours per week on my application summary ヽ(;▽;)ノ and I talked to my h counselor and she said yup it’s just hours per week… _| ̄|○ sorry you guys

BruinsRule is right, UCs don’t really care about this stuff. No sense in stressing out over small stuff like this; it only hurts you .
