by putting on my FAFSA and college application that I am planning on linving at home? Will they give me less aid than they would have since my financial need is less? I had originally planned on living at home, but everyone's been talking about how it's such a great experience to live with the other students at the college I'm going to, and now I want to find a way to live on-campus.

You'll get less aid by living at home, but your expenses will be less also. Room and Board account for half the total Cost of Attendance at many colleges.

If you have a low EFC and a school that meets close to 100% of need, you might be able to live on campus for little or no additional out-of-pocket, since the aid increases due to the increased Cost of Attendance when you live on campus.

You can correct the FAFSA online to reflect living on-campus- that will increase your aid package(s). Then if you decide later to live at home, let your selected college know, and they will adjust the aid to reflect the lower financial need.
