<p>I am living off campus next year and me efc is 0. I hear off campus is cheaper but does that mean I get less govt aid? Cal grants, pell grants, uc grants, etc. I will be depending on the refund to pay for my lease. To sum it up , do I get more aid, less aid, or the same amount living on campus or off campus?</p>
<p>It depends on your school. Each school has a COA which is used along with your EFC to determine your need. The COA includes average costs for room and board. Some schools will have the same COA whether the student lives on or off campus. If this is the case at your school then your aid will not be reduced by you living off campus. Some schools may have a different COA for students living off campus. Only your school can tell you what their COA is and whether it will be the same, lower, or higher if you live off campus.</p>
