Did I Snub My GC on Accident?

I was trying to find a free way to take online classes so that I could place out of the lower-level classes and take more advanced ones during the school year. I thought that MOOC’s from Coursera and EdX could help, but it turns out they need to have regional accreditation or be approved by the education department of the state. She sent me an e-mail near the beginning of the month, which I read, then forgot about up until now… I probably need to continue corresponding to her, but what do I say after 2-3 weeks of nothing?

Also, if you’re wondering why they need to be free, my parents have the funds to pay for the classes (no need-based financial aid), but refuse to pay; they are perfectly fine with me taking the course as long as no money is involved. Most the programs I’ve looked at with scholarships say they won’t cover the full cost to ‘motivate students’, or aren’t free in my state/county, or it just seems extremely unlikely to get a complete scholarship. I have found a few that are accredited, but don’t mention tuition/fees period, so I’ve e-mailed them… Only one has responded, and I think they might require payment. Any suggested programs would help a bunch.

Have you thought about self studying APs? They do cost, but not nearly as much as a regular online class. Your school might be able to pay it for you. Honestly, I’d just apologize to your GC and tell her you forgot. They understand that students are busy during the summer.

I’m trying to test out of Bio Honors because AP Bio is 2 periods, and a lot of stress (and any other class with an AP), and I would rather take the class instead of self-studying because colleges don’t really look at AP exams unless they take the class along with it… Plus I’m already self-studying several and taking the class over the summer would free up a period for me to take an art class, which would help me a lot for an EC I’m doing.

My school does not pay for AP exams except for people with reduced lunch, and I haven’t checked, but I’m fairly certain that they won’t pay for a class (tried to take a class over the summer that was around $300, parents refused to pay, and the school never offered when I told my GC).

Thanks for the response! @Madeline25!

If anyone can suggest any programs, it would be great.
