My advice to everyone on this thread is to stop publicly speculating on what any communication received at this point means…and to lay off the Loomis portal until M10. My guess is that the portal was in the process of updating and who knows if any of what was loaded in was the latest info…also posting about it does Loomis no favors in the PR department. Finally, as I stated in my “don’t try to read the tea leaves” post this AM, sharing this sort of stuff is just spinning up the anxiety for those who may not have received any communication.

In all fairness to the kids who checked, the Loomis portal is not strictly for admissions. It provides information about the school and links to areas of interest that are customized to each student and is designed to be viewed at any time, not just for admissions decisions. And yes, it did have some odd things going on, but they were meaningless.

I think if you have your portal log in info, one dry run before M10 (to make sure it works) is fine. Would I continue to log in? No. I would not.

So you guys know (don’t you?) that LC is one of the TSAO schools, who have all made an agreement not to send out or signal any admissions decisions until the 10th, right? Last year, they certainly stuck to the agreement. I have no insider information on this, but this just all sounds like a screwed up portal to me, not real admissions decisions. Call the school and ask, if you are either worried or gleeful-- but don’t just accept what you’re seeing as real (and I agree-- try to stop looking at the portal and driving yourself crazy)!

I also got the email with “…should you choose to attend…” in the last sentence - I guess this means I am in LC?

I also got the email but the website glitch said I was waitlisted. So I think the email is just one of their regular emails that everybody gets and doesn’t indicate whether you got in or not. The website glitch was a mistake and only lasted for about an hour or so. The page looked completely different during that hour.

I really don’t think the email means anything. I got it and so did plenty other people. They’re probably just trying to keep applicants’ interest in Loomis strong to raise their yield rate. And I didn’t mean for my previous post to be taken seriously. I didn’t even believe what I was saying. I was simply sharing the crazy thoughts of my mind with the world. Guess I won’t be doing that again…

Greetings from Mr. Mitchell, Director of Admissions at Loomis: On Saturday, February 22nd, we had a glitch with our online admission portal. You may recall that this is where we provide information on your interests as well as critical links to information to keep you connected with our community. Unfortunately, we learned Saturday afternoon that the system failed, thus making inaccurate information available to our applicants. We are a member of the TSAO which means we agree on a common notification deadline of 3/10. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to sending decisions on the agreed upon deadline. As for other communications that come from our office this time of year; we believe in a personalized and communicative process, one in which we provide information about life at our school, particularly through the lens of our current students. I hope that the last communication we sent via email gave you a glimpse of life at Loomis and answered some of your questions about what you can expect or look forward to in your years in high school, whether at Loomis or elsewhere. If you have questions about our process, please let me know. I can be reached at erby_mitchell@loomis.org–Now I have to get back to admission committee! Peace, Mr. MItchell

Dang. Well, I guess that answers the question of “Do AOs ever visit this forum?”

I certainly visit this forum. I love the discussions that students have in this space, and while I never weigh in, I thought it important to do so today to assuage any concerns about the notification deadline.

And kudos to you, Mr. Mitchell, for addressing the matter directly to quell speculation.

Thank you Mr. Mitchell. I’m once again looking forward to March 10!
