I really want to go to Clemson University. I am a SC resident and I am the salutatorian of my class and have a 4.0 UW GPA. I am a member of many clubs at my school and volunteer in my community. My SAT score is 1160 (Math 590 and Reading 570) and 1740 overall. I got a 24 on ACT. I have taken all honors courses and 1 AP (we only have 3) and 1 Dual Enrollment. I also played varsity volleyball for 3 years. I applied for the Education Program and would be majoring in Elementary Education. I know my test scores are low, but I don't have time to retake them. Also, a lot of people from my school are applying and most of them have higher SAT scores than I do, so I'm worried about that. Do you think I will still get in?

Your odds are good, but where else have you applied? USC Columbia? Any private college?

I’ve already gotten accepted to USC Columbia.

Your chances are good.

The GPA and everything else has a lot of significance too. Just because you didn’t score that great on a test doesn’t mean you’re going to be rejected. I’d say you have high chances!

Congratulations on USC! You’ve already been admitted to your flagship and although Clemson can be slightly more selective than USC for some programs (especially wrt test scores so I understand why you’re worried), overall quality and selectivity is similar, so even if you don’t make it into Clemson you have a strong choice with USC and the fact you’ve been admitted and have such a strong GPA should help at Clemson. Have you applied anywhere else, such as College of Charleston, or are you okay with going to USC (which is your state’s flagship, so nothing to sneer at!)

Honestly, it depends a lot on the other people who are applying. Their minimum score for the Honors program is 1320 so I don’t think your 1160 is bad. Your ACT is not too good though. I still would say that you have a chance due to everything else though, admission is not decided just off of your standardized test scores. Good luck!
