I didn’t take the subject SAT II, and am applying ED. How does this affect my application? Does it put me at a disadvantage, even though Penn claims that those who do not submit SAT II are not at a disadvantage? My SAT is a 1540, and ACT (which I sent accidentally) is a 32 with a perfect essay and 35 on writing and reading. Does it depend on the rest strength of the rest of my app? What do colleges use SAT II for? I’m applying to CAS as an environmental studies major.
@HoopsterMel Yes it will hurt you unless you come from an underprivileged background where there was lack of access to college prep resources through your school or your family couldn’t afford you taking the tests. SAT IIs are really optional only for such kids. Do kids from your high school usually take subject tests?
If you are not the kind of applicant I discard above, then you will compete against hundreds if not thousands of other applicants with similar or better profiles who have also scored well on two or more subject tests.
