I took the October 2015 ACT and scored a 34 composite but a 14 on the essay.
I had taken the ACT twice before the change and had gotten a 10/12 and 9/12 on the essays (my composite scores were 33 and 34 respectively).
Holy cow! I didn’t feel strongly about the essay but didn’t expect it to be THAT terrible.
What will colleges think about this abnormally low score? My goal for taking the test a third time was to improve my math score (which I did, woo!) but now I am worried the terrible essay score will kill me.
With super scoring, I will end up with a 35 composite. How are the essays super scored? How do they factor in? How do you convert your old score to the new grading system?
Very worried. Thanks in advance for answers!
Many, many people did poorly on the new essay. Chill.
I had the same problem but I got a 12/36 on it and my old ones were 11/12. Should I send mine? Or just completely forget about that test?
If so many people did badly then maybe there is something wrong.
Ill call the ACT tomorrow.
I have the same issue. My writing score dropped 14 points eventhough I felt that my essay was better this time. I got a jawdropping 10 and my english score was a 34.
