They used trendy restaurants in town’s poshest area where even a soup and salad costs a fortune.
Not around here. Interviewers for even the top schools typically meet at coffee houses or the like. I know a bunch of interviewers…and they never would go to a “posh restaurant”. They are not permitted to pick up the tab, and would not expect a college student to pay the high prices you mention.
What college interviewers do this?
I too am curious to know which location this is, and for which college(s).
The kids I know who had in-person interviews in the pre-covid era all did theirs at a Starbucks or Panera.
I’m curious too! I only met with students at the library or a coffee shop when I was doing alumni meetings, and it was the same when D interviewed.
I remember in the Paleolithic era, I went for interviews at their house!
Libraries. Dunkin’ Donuts.
Once colleges decided houses were too sketchy, I’d think the same sort of logic would also cover fine dining…
Did anyone got the admission without getting the interviews for Harvard,Columbia,Stanford etc ?
Indeed, I had my Harvard interview at the interviewer’s house. He had his shoes off!
I didn’t think anything of it then, and still don’t now.
However, in this day and age…
Yup- my Harvard and Penn interviews were at their houses!
For two “smaller” ivies, interviewer paid. Soup, salad and drink must be $40 or up there. “Top” Ivy had it at a law firm’s office, there were coffee and cookies in the waiting area. Interviewee got waitlisted at all three though he was accepted at other top 20 colleges without any interviews.
