Did you go to AARO with your kid?

Trying to decide if we should make the trip to Dallas for AARO with our daughter or just send her alone (we live 1000 miles away). If you are an SMU parent, did you go to the parent sessions? Was it worthwhile? I have to travel out of state with another one of our kids during the session she was thinking about going to and I just wasn’t sure if I should ask her to attend AARO at a different time, when one of us could accompany her. I am an SMU alum and feel like I have a pretty good feel for things already, but I know I’d learn things on the “parent” side of the equation too.

I went twice, 2 kids there…most students do have a parent with them. Of course they would survive on their own, but I had a great time meeting other moms and still am in contract with some. Though I do understand conflicting schedules. Mustang Corral is the orientation the kids do in August without parents.
Good luck…welcome again to SMU.

@Maggpie - Thank you for the info. I would like to go!

The parent sessions were really helpful. So much has changed within the last few years that I will return this summer with my son for a “refresher”. I would say that most parents do go.

I was an aaro leader last year and when i came we had friends in the area so my mom left to re-connect (we live in ohio now but were from the area). I didnt have an issue but I honestly am not sure what is covered in this session. As ann aaro leader you get to lead a small group, do ice breakers and get to know all the kids as they get acclimated. We did our sessions while the parents had their own informational session.
