For the roommate short answer question, did you guys actually write it like a note or a letter?

whats the diff?
mine was casual, i said Hey! as my intro line

I did, but I don't think it matters. I started with "Dear Roomie,"

you don't have to. i asked one of the admission officers during a visit.
just make sure it's not too casual, like yo bro was up etc.

mine was kinda formal, except i did end it with a sarcastic "Ta." Plus my long essay was about dog poop, so I had to bring the application back down to earth.

I talked about how i got my nose pierced. :)

My friends brother who got in a few years ago started his letter like this:

"Dude, first of all, how awesome is it that we both got into Stanford?"

I think it was, "Dear heterosexual male roommate."

Mine was like a serious story and didnt even sound like it should be to a roommate...Im an idiot

pman- i did something liek that... except my story was a really quirky and funny thing about me.
