did you submit a resume?

so, as all of you know, the app is very brief. and i've read that people have suggested writing it/mailing in it to include more, but i don't necessarily feel the need to do that. i would like to expand on what i've actually accomplished in my activities, but from the app i get the idea that they don't really care.... ?

anyway, what i'm most concerned about is the fact that my school only offers two AP classes designated for seniors alone, and with my transcript they won't see that, and they don't ask for current classes i'm enrolled in. so they're going to think i had a really easy schedule.

advice? did anyone not submit a resume and just send in the online app??

(i'm hoping my essays and teacher recs are what do the trick..)

I submitted a resume with my app and was accepted.

Your guidance counselor indicates how rigorous your schedule was based on what you had available to take. I did not submit a resume and was accepted early. I also only had one AP class available at my school through 11th grade (taking more senior year). I don’t remember if the Georgetown app was different from the common app in this regard, but I expressly remember writing down the classes I was taking on the common app. In any case, Georgetown requires a mid-year report, and on that mid-year report I believe they will see your classes and corresponding grades.

I definitely sent in a resume with my application. I had some rather unique extra curricular and community service activities that needed elaboration and I sent mine via snail mail. The SFS was one of my top choices two years ago and I didn’t want to leave any stone unturned. Don’t think they minded… After I was accepted, I got a note talking about my EC’s (so, yes - they actually read them).

Son accepted to NHS EA. Resume was submitted near the deadline after several in this forum posted that they submitted one. Thanks!

It’s really really not necessary. I never submitted a resume and was accepted EA to SFS. Good luck!

Would it be okay to send them in separately (resume via snail mail and submit the actual application online)?

I called the admissions office and they said it was perfectly fine to send in a resume. She seemed to be encouraging me to do so. I mailed it in with the red sheet of the paper application. Mine was about 1.75 pages.

My daughter’s school sent the resume with the transcript and other materials needed,.

mattmurph14, what is the red sheet of the paper application? Sorry, I’m not very clear on what you mean.

The deadline is today, so if I sent my resume in tomorrow, would they still read it?

@neverstopsmiling: I have the same problem. I totally forgot Georgetown was not on the Common Application and now I am panicked. I think I might send it and just hope they consider it?

@crashh11 The red sheet is the First Year Application Part II. I filled out the paper application instead of the one online. It includes your ECs and Test Dates Along with your Essays

@Jaysha… ah yeah we might as well try. It’s not required so it may be considered late but they won’t penalize us for it. Does anyone know if it’s okay to send in a resume late?

when you guys submitted a resume, did you just email it to undergrad admissions? how exactly did you do it?

i just gave it to my high school counselor, and he included the resume with my transcript.
otherwise, just mail it to their undergraduate admissions office, and clearly label your gtown identification number on it so they can match it to your file.
